Elements of the Story

THEME

Before I go into anything else, you should know that the overall theme of this blog is storytelling (though it ventures into the broader themes of literature and writing), so if you’re a writer, a wannabe writer, want something short to read, want some poetry to read, are looking for some inspiration, need a good laugh, need a good cry, or just need some writing tips, I may be able to help you out!

Note: There are a few random other things on this blog as well. I’ve grouped those together in the Miscellaneous category, so if you ever get bored and want to check out something not related to writing…

… You should probably stay far away from there. It’s a scary place.

CHARACTERS

That girl you see in the picture on the left? That’s me. Admittedly, it’s a very pretty picture of me (senior pictures tend to be very pretty) and people say it doesn’t look much like me, but that is most definitely me. Those are my clothes, and those are my eyes, and that’s my smile, and I remember taking that picture. Plus, I see that face (in a less pretty format) in the mirror every day, so it’s definitely me.

I’ll admit now, I’m a little crazy and a bit too peppy. My friends will tell you I’m super crazy and a lot too peppy, but that’s them. You can come up with your own opinion about me.

PLOT

As I stated in my mini profile, I’m an aspiring writer and a seasoned traveler. I’ve always enjoyed reading and writing, but found a special addiction to the written word, particularly poetry, in seventh grade when I discovered just how fluid and beautiful it can be. Now, I write poetry all the time and consider myself to be a pretty descent poet.

When it comes to fiction, I prefer writing short fiction, especially Flash Fiction. I’ve been working on a few longer pieces for a while as well, but I can’t really share those with you. Not until I get further into them and know they’ll actually be something… I hope to be a published author one day, so I can’t give sneak peaks just yet.

SETTING

As for traveling, well. My parents traveled a lot before my brother and I were born and took us on a few cruises (that I barely remember) when we were young. Then, when I was in the fourth grade, they decided we would take a trip to Europe and visit Austria, Germany, France, and Italy.

I barely remember that trip either, but it got us all addicted to traveling once again.

Now I’ve been all over the world, from China to Ecuador, from the coast of Mexico to Canada. And I’ve been to nearly all the states (U.S. states), including Hawaii and Alaska.

Why am I mentioning this? Because traveling is a huge part of my life. Right now, I don’t really talk about any of my travels on this blog. It’s really difficult to try to put all that beauty and all of my experiences into words. If you want me to write about my experiences trying, just ask and I can attempt to write something.

CONFLICT

I’m also finishing up my senior year of high school right now and am going to be transitioning into college in August, so life is kind of crazy. Of course, it’s always going to be crazy, so I don’t know why that’s an excuse… Point is, if I have trouble posting for a few days, don’t hate me. I’m probably doing a lot of testing.

Also, I love when people critique my work, but please, no hate comments. Hate comments just make you sound like you have no life and no education. Honestly, if you send hate comments my way, I’ll be less upset and more embarrased. For you. So, yeah, I suggest staying away from the hate comments.

A SIXTH ELEMENT I JUST CREATED FOR IMPORTANT NOTES

Okay, super important bit: If you’re looking for something in particular and don’t know where to look, or don’t understand what the heck some page or category is all about, check out the tab “Chapter Guide” up top. It might help.

Last but not least, feel free to comment! I’d love to hear from you! And if you have a suggestion, definitely let me know!

Don’t worry, I don’t bite!

At least, not too hard.

Anyway, have a wonderful day! I hope you enjoy my blog!
